Product update: introducing the LeadGenerated event

NewsBy Juliana Amorim

When Croct first launched, most of our customers were focused on e-commerce or SaaS funnels. Because of that, we created two core conversion events that covered the most important outcomes for these businesses:

As we expanded, more teams began using our platform for lead generation. That’s when a gap became clear. Neither of these events properly represented a lead submission. Teams had to rely on custom events, which made segmentation inconsistent and limited what we could show in dashboards.

To fix this, we’re introducing a new standard event: LeadGenerated.

What the new event captures

LeadGenerated combines the strengths of our existing conversion events.

  • Like UserSignedUp, it can include details about the lead profile.
  • Like OrderPlaced, it gives you the option to assign a lead value.

This structure works for both simple and advanced lead funnels, whether you just need basic information about a form submission or you want to run revenue-based analysis on lead quality.

What you can do with it

You can now build audiences and conditions using LeadGenerated directly in event expressions, without needing workaround events or custom naming, or export them using our Data Export API.

In addition to this immediate uses, this event also unlocks upcoming improvements to how we report on leads, their value, and their impact on experiences and experiments.

If you rely on lead forms or nurture flows, we recommend standardizing on this event to improve your segmentation and analytics going forward.

Also, if you have feedback or ideas for future event types, just let us know.
