Product update: autocapture for engagement and product events
Most analytics platforms autocapture only the basics. Page views, clicks, form submissions. Helpful for quick setup, but not enough when you want real insights or need data you can actually segment on.
Anything more specific usually requires manual work. For example, tracking a product view in GA4 means writing custom code using their event API. Same for Amplitude and Mixpanel. It’s the same story across the board: you always end up manually implementing the events that matter most to your business.
So we decided to remove that friction. Starting today, Croct automatically captures three high-value events out of the box:
All of them work with zero setup as long as you update your SDK.
Why this matters
Our customers use Croct for personalization, AB testing, and segmentation, which depends heavily on event quality. When events require extra engineering work, teams postpone them, ship incomplete data, or skip them entirely. That hurts onboarding, slows down experimentation, and weakens personalization strategies.
Autocapturing these events solves that.
PostViewed
We automatically track when users view blog posts or articles. This gives you immediate access to content engagement data and lets you personalize experiences based on reading behavior.
ProductViewed
When a user views a product page, we log the event with all available contextual properties. You can analyze product interest without manually instrumenting ecommerce-specific logic.
LinkOpened
Every link interaction is captured. Great for understanding navigation patterns and triggering link-based audiences without additional coding.
What else do we capture automatically
These new events add to the list of autocaptured events you already get by default, such as page views, tab changes, session activity, account actions, and ecommerce lifecycle signals like product abandonment and product ordered. This gives you a complete baseline dataset without needing to instrument everything from scratch.
How to start using it
Update your Croct SDKs to the latest version. That’s it. No configuration, no markup, no extra code. Once updated, these events will appear automatically in your dashboards, audiences, and experience targeting.
If you have feedback or want to suggest the next events we should autocapture, our team is always listening.
