Product update: check your slots status

If you use Croct slots to power site content, you’ve probably asked yourself:

• Which slot version is actually live on my site right now?
• Which default content should I update so that changes appear on the website?
• Which slot version should I target when building an experience or configuring an AB test?

This week, we shipped a new feature called slot status: a simple, always-visible indicator that shows live activity for each slot version, right where you work.

What’s new

The slot status pill appears on the slot list, slot edition, experience, and experiment setup pages.

Hover it to see a quick activity card with the last request times per version and environment (production and development).

Now you can instantly determine which version is implemented on the website without needing to check with your developer. No more mistakes, like updating old versions with fresh content, and no more guessing which default content will actually show up.

How it works

We track slot requests by version and environment. The indicator reflects recent activity, so you can see what visitors are actually hitting.

The hover card displays last-seen timestamps for both production and development to eliminate ambiguity during rollouts.

• New project? We display a ⚪️ grey indicator until we receive the first real request.
• Seeing 🔴 red on a slot you expected to be live? Check your implementation, environment, or caching layer. Something might be wrong.
• All 🟢 green? Your slots are all up-to-date, and we are receiving requests as expected.

If you’re new to slots, take a look at our docs. They're basically content placeholders tied to a component schema (think hero banners, announcement bars, product page banners) and support versioning to keep schema changes safe.
