Sometimes you need to hit the brakes. Whether you are managing unexpected traffic peaks or performing maintenance, suspending a service should not require a deployment or a developer's time.
We believe that autonomy is key to agility. That is why we are introducing the service suspension toggle, a new feature that lets you temporarily deactivate your workspace directly from the admin panel.
Control without code
Previously, pausing Croct’s services on your application meant changing the source code and deploying a new version. That process takes time, which you often do not have during a traffic surge. Now, you can toggle your workspace on and off instantly.
This feature gives you full control to:
- Manage quotas to prevent your monthly active user count from hitting its limit during unexpected spikes.
- Handle emergencies by suspending services immediately if you detect issues in your integration.
- Simplify maintenance by temporarily pausing interactions without touching your codebase.
How it works
When you deactivate your workspace, we temporarily suspend our connection to your applications. It is important to understand exactly what happens:
-
Event tracking
We stop ingesting or tracking of any new events from your users.
-
Content rendering
Your applications stop receiving personalized content and rely on the fallback content defined in your source code.
-
API requests
We do not accept incoming requests until you reactivate the workspace.
Rest assured: service suspension does not delete or modify your existing data. All your resources remain intact and accessible during this period.
Before you use this feature, ensure your slots have defined fallback content. Since we stop delivering personalized experiences, your applications must know what to display to users to prevent unexpected behavior or empty spaces in your interface.
Availability
This feature was designed to give you peace of mind and operational control, and is now available for accounts on the Growth and Scale plans.
If you need to manage your workspace status, you can do it now without waiting for the next deployment window. To learn more about the technical details, check our documentation.
